LIQUID ELECTRIC

Process

How this actually goes.

What will you use?

I use Ableton Live and a wide range of professional grade plug-ins by developers including Sonnox, Fabfilter, Waves, Wavesfactory, iZotope, Universal Audio, Mastering The Mix, Air Windows and XLN Audio. No analog hardware is used, but a wide variety of saturators and emulators can be used to mimic the hardware you want.

What to send?

For mastering: a stereo lossless audio file, ideally at the native sample rate, 24-bit, peaks below -6dB, no limiter on the master bus. For mixing: a complete set of stems (ie, your track broken into individual instruments, channel busses or however you'd split it up). How you divide it is up to you. For example, if you can't get the kick and the bass to sit nicely, but everything else sounds good, you can send three files - drums, bass and everything else. If in doubt, get in touch anyway. Even if you're working with lossy files or degraded audio, I'll see what we can do. Please use a filesharing service such as DropBox or WeTransfer. Large e-mail attachments will be bounced by the system.

If you've made your own master

If you've mastered your own music but it's still not quite where you want it, please send that through as well. This is the clearest possible way to show me what you're trying to achieve. This will help me see your vision and help me make it happen. Mastering over the top of an already mastered track greatly reduces the options that an engineer has, so please make sure you send the unmastered version as well.

What happens next

Your masters will be delivered as WAV files at delivery spec plus streaming-ready files, with a note on what was done and why. Timeframe will depend on my workload, and a complex mix-master job will take longer than a mastering-only job. Usually within a week - but if you're working to a deadline please get in touch and I'll see what's possible.

Revisions

Two revisions are included as guaranteed. More revisions are possible by discretion, especially if I've asked you to make changes to your mix. This isn't an industrialised factory line operation. My goal is to get your music where you want it, not to crank out as many files as possible.

Rates

Standard rate of $100 AUD per standard track. If yours isn't a standard track (maybe it's shortform for socials, maybe it's sound effects for a video game, maybe it's something else entirely), then please get in touch via hello@liquidelectricaudio.com and we can discuss. Tell me about the music.
